Founded on the idea of “People Helping People”, we are committed to offering our members competitive rates, quality services, and excellent personal service.
Baton Rouge Telco Federal Credit Union was chartered more than 80 years ago to serve the employees of Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph company. Since then, we’ve expanded our membership to include anyone who lives, works, or attends school in a ten parish region (Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, Saint Helena, West Baton Rouge, West Feliciana and Tangipahoa Parishes).
The Credit Union Difference
Credit unions provide nearly all of the same services as a bank with a few key differences.
Credit unions are owned by their members and managed by a volunteer member-elected Board of Directors. When you open a share account, you instantly become a member-owner.
Credit unions operate to serve members—not to make a profit. Profits are returned to members in the form of lower fees, lower loan rates, and higher savings rates.
Members of a credit union share a common bond (location, employer, membership in a group, or family).
A credit union’s first goal is to serve; thus, credit unions and their employees often engage in community and charitable activities and causes.
