History
Baton Rouge Telco Federal Credit Union is a member-owned financial institution
committed to quality service and sound financial management. We originated
in 1936 for employees of Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company.
Today, we provide financial services to meet the needs of thousands of
members. We now extend our field of membership to everyone that lives,
works, worships or attends school in the metropolitan area of Baton Rouge,
including Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville,
Livingston, Pointe Coupee, Saint Helena, West Baton Rouge, West Feliciana
and Tangipahoa Parishes. Our main goal is to help more individuals
and families reach their financial goals and serve the needs of our members.
As a member, you have a choice in the operation of this business by
voting at our annual meeting. The Board of Directors is elected by the
membership at the annual meeting held in March of each year. Each credit
union member age 16 and over is entitled to one (1) vote in the election
of directors. Also, your account with Telco is federally insured to at
least $100,000 by the National Credit Union Administration, NCUA (a U.
S. Government Agency). Congress temporarily increased NCUA deposit insurance
from $100,000 to $250,000 per depositor through December 31, 2009. Please
